Clearing exists for anyone without a confirmed place after results day — whether your grades didn't match your offer, you didn't apply earlier in the cycle, or you've changed your mind about your original choices. It is a normal, common part of the system, not a last resort for failure.
Who can use it
You can use Clearing if you did not receive any offers, did not meet the conditions of your firm or insurance choice, or applied after the main deadline and still want a place for that September. It is also open to students who simply want to start again with a different course.
How the process runs
Universities publish which courses have places through UCAS on results day. You contact universities directly, discuss your grades and interests, and can be given an informal offer over the phone before confirming it through UCAS. It moves fast, often within the same day.
How to actually prepare
